A Warm Welcome

May Tree Cottage is a newly converted stone barn in the grounds of Penyrheol Farm House set in 12 acres of pasture land in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan with views towards the Black Mountains.

Penyrheol Farm is no longer a working farm and so there are no farmyard noises, odours or dangers associated with some country cottages. However, visitors can still have the pleasure of walking around our fields.

The Cottage

May Tree Cottage was created from a stone barn and the conversion was subject to the latest high level of insulation standards demanded and because of its south facing aspect is very cosy and energy efficient. All the doors are wide enough for wheel chairs and the switch and socket positions are also designed for wheel chair users. The cottage is situated approximately 140 yards from the country lane and approximately 100 yards up its private drive from the main house. Guests are therefore assured of complete privacy and peace.

The village pub and restaurant with its open fire is approximately 300 yards away as is the beautiful church and duck pond. A little further along the road are fishing lakes. 2 miles away is the old market town of Cowbridge with its many fine restaurants and shops. Cardiff the capital city of Wales with its superb museum and castle is a 20 minute drive away. The historic coastal town of Llantwit Major and the Heritage Coast with its coastal path is a 10 minute drive away. The beaches are great for surfing or just lazing about. There are many fine golf courses in the area and golfers may use our fields to practice their driving provided they inform us first.

What our customers say.

The cottage was everything we could have hoped for and the owners very friendly and helpful. The location was ideal for visiting both Cardiff (approx. 12 miles) and Swansea (appox 35 miles) with lots to see in between. Cowbridge (2 miles away) was a lovely town with a good variety of shops, including Waitrose in the centre which had everything you could wish for. We would recommend both the property and the area for an interesting holiday in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Excellent cottage, very well thought out. Perfect for a dog as enclosed area to run around and look at sheep! This is the best cottage our greyhound has ever stayed in.
Cottage is on hosts farm but down its own track so peaceful and private.
Hosts are very friendly and helpful, with good local knowledge.
Good base for visiting many towns and places across the vale of Glamorgan.
Would highly recommend.
